Domenic Pittis
DIRECTOR OF HOCKEYDirector of Hockey Domenic Pittis oversees program development, player recruitment, and long-term strategy for St. Mary's hockey. Domenico Pittis joined SMHS in 2021, where he serves as the Hockey Director, as well as the Head Coach for the boys and girls varsity teams. Before joining SMHS, Coach Pittis was part of the Calgary Flames organization for eight seasons. Bob Hartley, former Head Coach of the Flames, brought him back to North America as the Flames Skills and Development Coach in 2013. In 2015, he moved into the position of Assistant Coach for the Heat. Coach Pittis, a Calgary, Alberta native had a pro career spanning 19-years and over two continents. He played 86 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers, and Nashville Predators and is also a 309 game AHL alum, scoring 109 goals and 342 points. During the 1998-99 season with the Rochester Americans, he scored 38 goals and 104 points, winning the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the AHL's leading scorer. In 2004-05, Coach Pittis went to Switzerland where he won two league championships, a Champions Hockey League Championship, and at the international level, won a Spengler Cup while representing Team Canada. Under his tutelage, Coach Pittis helped Markus Granlund, Derek Grant, Garnet Hathaway, Kenny Agostino, Freddie Hamilton, Hunter Shinkaruk, Emile Poirier, Drew Shore, Turner Elson, Linden Vey, Mark Jankowski, Andrew Mangiapane, Ryan Lomberg, Spencer Foo, Dillon Dube, and Curtis Lazar move from the AHL to the Calgary Flames. Domenic also has been a skills coach at the Canadian U-17 national team development camp for the past 5 years and is a Hockey Canada Certified Skills Coach.
John Longo
HEAD COACHCoach Longo is entering his first season behind the bench for St. Mary's. Coach Longo previously played Division 1 college hockey for the University of Vermont and was Captain his Senior year. He played in the ECHL for the Stockton Thunder and was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Sacred Heart University.
Dustin Ruffell
ASSISTANT COACHCoach Ruffell works primarily with the defensive unit and penalty kill. He joins St. Mary's after spending 5 years coaching at the junior level.
